Gwalior has been an important Centre of Performing and fine arts for centuries. It is specially known for its classical music which produced a number of Music wizards. Tansen is one of them. `Gwalior Gharana' in the field of classical music is well known for its "Dhrupad" and `Papa" gyaiki. Our rich cultural heritage needs protection and patronage. Besides, facilities of proper education, training and research in the field of performing arts are also required to be provided. Universities can play a positive role in this direction. In the light of above, it is felt that such course be started in the Jiwaji University. It is envisaged that such courses will rejuvenate our rich cultural heritage. 1. Programmes Offered : (A) Master in Music 2. Duration Tow year four semester, full time programme 3. Eligibility The minimum qualification for the admission to the first semester of the course (music and dance) shall be: (a) Bachelor's degree in Music/Dance (as the case may be with minimum 50% of aggregate marks from any recognised Center of Music/Dance. (b) The admission will be done strictly on the basis of merit. 4. Examination The examinations will be conducted on the semester pattern. Thee will four semesters in all. Two Theory Papers of 100 marks each and two practicals of 100 marks each (in music and dance both) will be held in each semester. There will be a provision of internal assessment also. A candidate has to obtain at least 30% marks in each paper of every course, viz, Music and Dance. 5. Total number of seat : 10 (each Music and Dance) Diploma in Indian Classical Music/Dance 1. Duration : Three years-six semesters, full time programme 2. Eligibility : The minimum qualification for the admission to the first semester of the courses (music and dance) shall be: (a) Xth Board Examination with minimum 50% of aggregate
marks. 3. Examination The examinations will be conducted on the semester pattern. There will be six semester in all. Two theory papers of 150 marks each and one practical examination of 100 marks (in both music as well as in dance) will be held in each semester. There will be provision of internal assessment also.
