Jiwaji University – A Brief Profile

The foundation stone of Jiwaji University was laid down by Sarvapalli Dr. Radha Krishnan, The President of India on December 11, 1964 at Naulakha Parade, a campus spread over about 225 acres. The University campus flanked by small hillocks is a picturesque landscape.

Gwalior, situated on Agra-Bombay national highway figures consicuously on Indian map for its music, architecture and rayon etc.

The University has been serving as a residential and affiliating one extending its jurisdiction to the districts; Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, Morena, Bhind and Datia etc. The number of colleges affiliated with the university has risen from 25 in the beginning to over 221 at present.

Since its inception the University has made commendable progress that enabled university to volunteer itself for assessment and accreditation by national and accreditation council (NAAC) of UGC during IX plan .As a mark of recognition, NAAC accredited our University with “Four Star”.

The Jiwaji University has now established independent institutes in various area of education namely:

1.     Institute of Engineering

2.     Institute of Pharmacy

3.     Institute of law

4.     Institute of Management

5.     Institute of Travel and Tourism

            The passed out students have brought glory to the University. Jiwaji University is the emerging University of central India and is progressing at a faster rate.

Institute of Engineering

Institute of Engineering was set up by Jiwaji University in the year 2000 to impart education, training, research and consultancy facilities in engineering and technology .The aim of the Institute is to provide quality education in tune with the rapidly emerging new global order. It has completed seven years of academic excellence. It is the outcome of growing competence in the field of Technical and professionalism in Engineering.

      Institute of Engineering at present two branches namely:

·        Electronics  Engineering

·        Chemical Engineering

Now, the Institute is going to start two new branches namely Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science to impart better training to the students of the region.

     Institute has well established laboratories set up for excellent practical training to the students in the following areas:

·           Applied Chemistry Lab

·           Applied Physics Lab

·           Electrical Engg. Lab

·           Mechanical Engg. Lab

·           Civil Engg. Lab

·           Workshop 

·           Communication Lab

·           Computer Lab

·           Microwave Measurement Lab

COMPUTER LABORATORY

Besides the departmental computer facilities, Institute of Engineering has a well established computer lab with LAN facility to enhance software skills of students.

The lab consists of 100 PC’s with coloured monitor, Pentium IV processors with latest software like Turbo C++, Visual Studio, JAVA, Oracle, CGI etc printer and scanner facilities are also available, all the systems have excellent connectivity in LAN. 

LIBRARY

Library contains more than 6,000 books on various disciplines of Engineering. To support research  attitude  of student there is a good collection of journals and the library network is supported by electronic of Delnet , student are provided 5 books per semester . The research journals can be assessed with the help UGC- INFIBNET system provided in the institute.
