With the increasing availability of mini and microcomputer systems at relatively low prices more and more organizations have stated computerizing their operations which have resulted in a demand for computer applications professionals. The medium and large sized organizations have started using computer for a variety of management and data processing needs. It is to meet this demand for computer application professionals, that the Department of Electronics  Govt. of India had started the MCA Programme.

Taking into account the structure of the existing programme and the available employment opportunities, the objectives of the Master of Computer Applications degree programme can be stated as below.

(a) M.C.A.

Admission procedure in MCA : Through a combined entrance M. P. JET conudcted by VYAPM and DTE, Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal

Objective of the Course :

  • To impart comprehensive knowledge and practical skills covering all aspects of computer uses in business, industries and service sectors.
  • To impart expertise to perform as application system designer, implementers and managers in major areas of computer applications.
  • We aim to facilitate the creation of professionalism and a high degree of innovativeness in our post-graduates. Its achievement is made possible through.
  • Hands-on-experience with computers and computer related information.
  • Building conceptual skills in areas of systems, application s/w, networking and other functional units.
  • Highly interactive environment.
  • Enhancing the knowledge of students to keep it at par with the technological and social developments takings place in the world.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE IN THE DEPARTMENT

The School of Studies in Computer Applications was established with the aim to start various teaching programmes and research activities. The School currently offers 3-years full time course in Master of Computer Applications (MCA) organizad by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).

The building houses specialized felicities and larger space in terms of classrooms, libraries and teacher's rooms. The specialized computer library has a commendable collection of books to provide easier access of computer books compatible to the MCA curriculum plus all the new computer magazines in the market circuit today. The Seminar Hall is the site for holding seminars held by eminent spokesmen and visiting faculties for imparting classes at regular intervals.

The School also has Internet facility, which is available to the students during the specified Lab hours.

The computer center is well equipped with the network of windows-NT and UNIX incorporating the latest hardware technologies. The students are apprised of all types of latest advancements in the field of software and hardware. Students of MCA are exposed to the following languages, Front-end tools, RDBMS or Packages :-

  1. C (on UNIX) and Turbo C
  2. Turbo C++
  3. Foxpro 2.6 (On DOS, Unix and Windows)
  4. Windows 95 platform
  5. Visual Basic 5.0
  6. UNIX Shell programming
  7. ORACLE 7
  8. Internet facility

As a special feature of MCA Program all the students of final semester are required to undergo on the job training in the industries for a minimum period of six months.

(b) M.B.A. e-Commerce : Two Years Four Semesters

Eligibility : Graduate in any discipline with 50% aggregate marks and maths/Commerce at 10+2 level.

Number of Seats : Open = 20        NRI = 03

Mode of Selection : Through combined entrance test conducted by the University, followed by Counseling.

 

(c) B.C.A. ( Three years / Six Semesters)

Available Seats      : 40 (Open : 30 + Payment: 10)

Eligibility               : 10+2 with Mathematics as one of the compulsory subject.

Mode of Selection  : Merit in common entrance test conducted by Jiwaji University.
