The main objective of the department is to impart education in the field of commerce at the post graduate level besides promoting research programmes. The department runs M.Phil. programme in commerce which orients students to take next level research projects. IMPORTANT NOTE: Institute/College reserves the right not to offer those options / electives / courses to the students of M. Com. for which adequate teaching facilities. Number of students do not exist in the institution/College. The decision of the Head / Principal will be final in this matter. SCHEME OF ASSESSMENT:The M. Com. is based on continuous internal assessment as well as end-semester external examination. The scheme of internal assessment is as follows: - MARKS OF SESSIONALS: (a) Three Class tests during the semester will be conducted by the teacher concerned and the sessional marks of internal assessment will be finalized by the teacher concerned. The sessional marks shall be based on: - Marks of two best class tests out of three tests conducted during Marks 20 the semester will be sent to the University. (b) Candidate is required to secure a minimum of 40% marks in individual course in order to pass the internal assessment. The students must be very punctual and attentive to tests as there is no provision for make-up test on any ground. (B) Master of Philosophy (M. Phil.) 1. SEMESTER : IIM.Ph.201 Dissertation (On any topic which is decided with the consultation with Supervisor) OPTIONAL PAPERS Students are required to select any one optional paper out of seven optional papers i.e. M.Ph. 202 to M.Ph. 208. M.Ph.202 Strategic Financial Management M.Ph.203 Marketing Planning and Control M.Ph.204 Human Relation and Organizational Behaviour M.Ph.205 Indian Financial System M.Ph.206 Accounting Theory M.Ph.207 Tax Planning and Management M.Ph.208 Computer Applications in Management IMPORTANCE NOTES: (1) Students are required to opt any one optional paper in IInd semester. (2) Dissertation is compulsory for all students in IInd Semester. (3) The Dissertation will be prepared by student in IInd Semester under the supervision of any faculty member of the Institute. (4) Three copies of the dissertation shall be submitted for evaluation. 25 Marks allotted for internal evaluation based on seminar of the topic of dissertation. The external examiner shall evaluate the dissertation and open Viva-Voce examination will be jointly conducted by external and internal examiners. In external examination the dissertation shall either be accepted or rejected. (5) Hindi and English in the medium of examination. (6) The Internal assessment test during the semester will be conducted by the teacher concerned and the sessional marks of internal Assessment will be finalized by the teacher concerned. The sessional marks shall be based on :- (i) One Internal Assessment test 10 Marks (ii) Seminar 15 Marks ----------- TOTAL 25 Marks ----------- (7) In order to pass the semester, an examinee shall have to secure 30% marks in Internal Assessment and 50% marks in aggregate. (8) Institute reserve the right not to offer those optional courses to the students of M.Phil. (Commerce) for which adequate teaching facilities do not exist in the institute. The decision of the Head of the Institute will be final in this matter. (A) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Commerce A candidate for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy must, at the time of application, hold Masters degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade of M.Phil. degree of the University, a deemed University or any other University incorporated by any law for the time being in force and recognized by the University.
