2. Profile of the Course
The course is designed to impart a thorough knowledge of Ancient History
and Archaeology of Indian subcontinent including the culture, institutions,
antiquities, ideas and concepts through ages from Pre-historic period
down roughly to thirteenth century A.D. It prepares students to qualify
for the related jobs in University/Colleges/Archaeological Survey of Indian
and State Department of Archaeology.
(a) M. A. in AIHCA
3. Eligibility
Candidates with a first Degree (B.A./B.Sc./B.Com.) with 50 marks in aggregate
are eligible for admission. The reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC candidates
also exists according to the Government Rules.
For M. Phil., M.A. in AIHCA/allied subjects
with 55% marks in aggregate.

7. Course structure :
The 18 papers (4 semester course) consists of 16 theory papers, four in
each semester and two practicals of 100 marks held at the end of 2nd and
4th semesters respectively. Each paper including the course for practical
has a provision of 20 marks for internal assessment based on 3 tests,
two best of which are taken as relevant for computing the award. Each
semester consists of 90 days of teaching. The semester wise distribution

2. Profile of the Courses
The courses are designed to impart the knowledge to the students interested
in the field of culture, Heritage, literature, Art and Architecture etc.
Looking to the need of the students and also the periodical gap prevailing
in the field of History, culture and Archaeology, this course has been
started under self financing scheme. At present, stress is being given
to the studies of regional history, art and culture. In the light of newer
methodology and researches, this course gives insight to the history and
historical traditions of the region as well as of the country.

Graduate from any recognized University with atleast 50% marks.
