Short Summary of Teaching and Research accomplished:

Medicinal plants were evaluated for the contraceptive efficacy. Detailed study on two selected plants, Pueraria tuberosa DC & Moringa oleifera Lam.were done. Thus the study was planned with an aim to identify and characterize active fraction with reference to fertility control with the aid of hormonal profile, electron microscopic studies and toxicological profile of Pueraria tuberosa DC .The critical factor(s) essential for embryo-endometrial interaction were identified. The increasing use of beryllium in several new economic sectors emphasizes the need for a detailed study to develop an effective antidote as to neutralize the toxic potential of beryllium. The present study were planned to screen and evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness of various chelating agents, per se and in combination with the antioxidants in beryllium exposed female rats. The chelating agents NTA, Ascorbic acid, DMSA, GSH, DMPS, DPA, Tiron were tested against beryllium intoxicated rats. Selenium, which is proven antioxidant as well as nutrient, was also tested per se and along with the chelators to combat against the oxidative stress caused by the metal ions.

Hepatoprotective evaluation of the efficacy of natural products &Indian medicinal plants and their active principles were identified.
